But what happens if you haven\u2019t reached the required age yet? Don\u2019t worry! All drivers aged <strong>21 and above<\/strong> can <strong>rent a car short-term<\/strong> by paying a small daily \u201cyoung driver\u201d supplement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This rule also applies when there are <strong>multiple drivers<\/strong> on the rental agreement and one of them is under 25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_happens_if_you_are_a_newly_licensed_driver\"><\/span>What happens if you are a newly licensed driver?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As you know, when you obtain your driving licence you enter a period during which you are considered a \u201cnewly licensed driver\u201d. The <strong>regulations for new drivers<\/strong> clearly define specific limitations and obligations. In particular:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>vehicle limitation: the law sets a maximum of <strong>55kW per tonne<\/strong> (a ratio between the vehicle\u2019s weight and engine power);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>speed limits: <strong>100 km\/h<\/strong> on motorways and <strong>90 km\/h<\/strong> on main extra-urban roads;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>licence points: when a newly licensed driver receives a fine with point deduction, the <strong>number of points deducted is doubled<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>alcohol limit: <strong>zero tolerance<\/strong> for new drivers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>new driver period<\/strong> lasts for <strong>three years<\/strong> from the date of passing the practical driving test, therefore from the moment the licence is issued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Car_rental_for_newly_licensed_drivers\"><\/span>Car rental for newly licensed drivers<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Now let\u2019s look specifically at <strong>car rental for newly licensed drivers<\/strong> and examine the different scenarios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If a newly licensed driver is <strong>under 21 years old<\/strong>, even with two years of driving experience, they cannot rent a car because the minimum age requirement is not met. If the driver is <strong>at least 21 and has two full years of driving experience<\/strong>, they can rent a car normally with the standard daily supplement. If the driver is <strong>at least 21 and has two years of driving experience<\/strong> but is still classified as a <strong>newly licensed driver<\/strong>, rental is allowed as long as the vehicle complies with the limitations established by law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the rental request comes from a driver who is <strong>at least 25 years old<\/strong> but whose licence has been valid for <strong>less than two years<\/strong>, the rental cannot be completed.
