Romantic places in Sardinia
A sunset by the sea is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and emotional experiences to share with your partner. Sardinia offers a wide variety of landscapes, each with its own unique charm. We’ve selected five places you can visit during your romantic getaway.
- The Bastione di Saint Remy in Cagliari
- The ruins of Nora
- The Nebida viewpoint
- The Alghero bastions
- Budelli’s Pink Beach
1 – The Bastione di Saint Remy in Cagliari
The Bastione di Saint Remy is one of Cagliari’s symbols, loved not only by tourists but also by locals. This ancient fortress has become a monumental staircase offering a breathtaking view over the entire city. From up here, you can admire the Poetto beach, the Sella del Diavolo promontory, and the city lights glowing as the sun begins to set. If you’re looking for the perfect sunset spot, this is a must-see.
Not far from the Bastione di Saint Remy, still in the historic centre, you’ll find another beautiful viewpoint: the Bastione di Santa Croce.
2 – The ruins of Nora
Among the most atmospheric places where you can experience romance in Sardinia are the ancient ruins of Nora. This fascinating site is considered unique, as Nora is an ancient submerged city, partly emerging from the surrounding sea. On land, you can admire the remains of what once stood here: temples, mosaics, baths, and a Roman amphitheatre.
We recommend a sunset walk, when the light softens and the waves gently touch the ancient stones.

3 – The Nebida viewpoint
We now move to the Iglesiente area, to a little-known but incredibly beautiful spot: the Nebida viewpoint. Once you arrive, you can enjoy a lovely walk around the small hill, overlooking a stretch of sea whose colour is truly unique. The atmosphere is magical, and climbing the final steps rewards you with an unforgettable panorama.
The true star of this stretch of coastline is Pan di Zucchero rock, a beloved destination for snorkelling and diving enthusiasts.

4 – The Alghero bastions
Alghero is a true gem for visitors and locals alike. Overlooking the Coral Riviera, the town enchants with its towers and ancient coastal walls. It is one of the few Italian cities that has preserved its defensive walls almost entirely intact.
The town is famous for its romantic sunsets and the breathtaking views around Capo Caccia.

5 – Budelli’s Pink Beach
We conclude this brief tour with the Pink Beach of Budelli, a small island within the La Maddalena Archipelago. It is famous for its pink sand and crystal-clear water. It is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia and can only be visited when accompanied by a guide from the La Maddalena National Park.
