Are you planning a holiday in Sardinia arriving at Olbia Airport with Villasimius as your destination? Today we want to give you some tips on how to reach your destination and what to visit. Let’s get started!
Olbia-Villasimius by Car
Olbia Airport is an important strategic point for those wishing to reach the island and visit some of Italy’s most beautiful beaches. Once you arrive in Sardinia, before heading south, we suggest making a short stop in this area to explore the city and the nearby attractions. Wondering what to see in Olbia and its surroundings? Here are some ideas:
- the historic city center;
- Pedres Castle;
- Su Mont’e S’Abe Giants’ Tomb;
- the Punic Walls;
- Sa Testa Sacred Well;
- Nuraghe Riu Mulinu in Cabu Abbas.
After visiting the city and the main attractions of the area, you are ready to head south. How to get to Villasimius? The best route is to follow the SS131 dcn to Nuoro, then the SS389, continuing on the SS198 to Lanusei. From there, follow the SS390 and the Provincial Road Lanusei-San Paolo to reach the SS125 towards Castiadas, and finally the SP19 to Villasimius.
The journey takes about three and a half hours and, since it is a rather complex route, using public transport such as buses or trains is not recommended. The trip would take significantly longer, and it would be more difficult to make strategic stops, both to rest and to take advantage of the journey to explore the island’s center.
To break up your drive, we suggest taking a tour of the Ogliastra beaches to marvel at the unique features of this coastline. Just enough time for a quick swim or a short excursion, and then you can reach Villasimius and explore some of the most beautiful beaches in the south.
